Richview Baptist Church in Toronto is searching for candidates for the position of Director of Community Outreach.
Children’s Program Purpose
To empower the church to develop relationships with at-risk children (ages 5-10) and their families in the neighborhood surrounding Richview Baptist Church, so that they experience God’s transforming power in every area of their lives: socially, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.
Description of Program
The children’s program consists of three components:
- Summer Day Camp – recreation, Bible teaching, arts, and crafts
- After-School Program – homework assistance, recreation, and Bible study
- Relationship Building with children and their families outside of the formal program
Responsibilities
As an integrated part of Richview’s leadership team:
- To recruit, motivate, and train people to participate in the programs and to develop relationships with neighborhood children and their families
- To develop and run a nine-month After-School Program and a four- to six-week Summer Day Camp, including team development, administration, communication with families and schools, curriculum planning, community networking, volunteer and staff supervision, and implementation of safety standards
Qualifications
- Qualifies for membership at Richview Baptist Church
- Post-secondary degree or life experience
- Experience in teaching or training
- Experience working with children and youth
- Basic computer skills (email and word processing)
- Self-motivated, team-focused, passionate about ministry
- Excellent people skills; good organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license preferred
References required. A criminal record check will be required. A minimum three-year commitment to the job is expected.
